Valentine Dance

Our EEC/Kindergarten Valentine Dance was a big hit! There were lots of delicious treats to eat, a photo spot to take Valentine pictures, and dancing, dancing, dancing! We had a great turn out, with almost 70% of the EEC students and Kindergarten students in attendance! Favorite moments of the night included dancing the “Tooty Ta” with the teachers and Dr. Beverlin and the Snake Line! Here are a few photos from our fun night! A Teacher “Quote of the day”

Usually, it’s the children who give us our “Quote of the Day”- a funny story or thing a child has said. Today, the quote came from a teacher! A frazzled dad called us on the phone to let us know that he was running late getting his daughter here. Mrs. D was trying to make sense out of his voice on the phone as he sounded very exasperated. He told her that he wasn’t very happy with his daughter because she had gotten into some make up looked like a “painted lady”. Mrs. D replied to him on the phone, “That’s okay. We take ‘em painted!” Just so you know, we will take them any way you send them!

A Baby Shower?

A four year old girl told Mrs. Matt that her mom was out of town because she had to go to a baby shower. “And,” the girl said, “the baby is not even going to get wet!”

Preschooler Gets Carded at Mission Carnival

Today our 4 and 5 year old classes went over to the Mission Carnival at Holy Cross “Big School”. When Miss Debbie came in to work at lunch, the kids were all buzzing with excitement about the event. They were telling Miss Debbie about all the things they did and showing her their face paint. One boy told Miss Debbie what he did at the carnival and then he said, “I tried to get a beer but they wouldn’t let me!” Of course, Miss Debbie asked him what he said again to make sure she heard right and he said again, “I tried to get a beer but they wouldn’t let me!” Miss Debbie did a little further investigating and asked him if he meant ROOT BEER. “Yes!” he answered!

A Double Major

A 5 year old girl said to Mrs. Miller, “Mrs. Miller, when I am 6, I am going to be a dentist and when I am 10, I am going to be a cowgirl!”

My Dad is Superman!

A 3 year old boy was telling about his cat, Cody, and how an animal chased Cody up a tree. The cat would not come down from the tree so his dad got a ladder and got the cat out of the tree. At this point in the story, the boy paused and said, “My dad does not have a Superman suit.” Mrs. Zaenger asked, “He doesn’t?” The boy said “NO. He doesn’t EVEN have a Superman suit!”

2012-2013 Registration

The 2012-2013 registration is coming home in the blue tote bag on Tuesday, January 17th. In-house registration begins for our EEC families and the families at Holy Cross Catholic School on January 17th and will open to the public on February 6th. Open House will be held on Sunday, February 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Be sure to register early to ensure your child’s spot!

Mrs. Zaenger was opening a yogurt container for snacks in her class. The tab tore off the seal and Mrs. Zaenger said, “Oh SHOOT!” A boy in her 3 year old class gasped, “You are not allowed to say that!” Mrs. Zaenger said, “I’m not?” and the boy replied, “NO! You can only say DARN It.”

If you haven’t done so already, mark your calendar for the annual Holy Cross Early Education Center Christmas Program. It will be on Sunday, December 18th at 3:00 p.m. (Sorry about the timing of the Chief’s game!) The children should arrive by 2:45 and go to Pflumm Hall at Holy Cross Catholic School. Parents can then report to the gym to see the program. We have been working really hard on using our best singing voices. I am sure that you are hearing your child sing some of the songs at home. Have you heard “Deck the Halls?” Perhaps you have heard “Mary’s Gonna, Gonna Have a Baby” or “There Was A Little Baby” ? Leave a comment and tell us what song you hear the most of at home!
