“Pennies for Patients” Project results

WOW!  Our families are amazing!  During the month our February, our school participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s “Pennies of Patients” campaign.  The children were each given a box to collect coins for donation to LLS.  As the children brought their boxes in, they dumped their coins in a large jar and sent the box home for more collecting.  At the end of the month, we took the coins in to the Coinstar  machine at Hy-Vee.  I was amazed at how much these little ones were able to collect.  It was our best year ever collecting coins for LLS.  We were able to collect a grand total of $$824.68!  Thank you to our wonderful families for helping us contribute to LLS!   It is great to teach the little ones the importance of helping others.

Mrs. Bridges and I love to find the little “extra” items that collected with the money when the children emptied their piggy banks!   My favorite “extra” found this year was a chunk of glue!   Here are some of our “extras” this year.
